Skrót CAS rozwijany jest jako Creativity, Activity and Service (kreatywność, aktywność i wolontariat).

Jest to obowiązkowy przedmiot w programie IB którego celem jest rozwijanie zainteresowań i zaangażowania społecznego uczniów. W ramach przedmiotu, uczniowie realizują każdy z komponentów CASu, poprzez wybierane przez siebie aktywności, takie jak na przykład gotowanie, bieganie lub wolontariat w lokalnej grupie zajmującej się prawami zwierząt.

JAKIE SĄ WARUNKI ZALICZENIA CASu❓️

IB wymaga, aby uczniowie angażowali się w przedmiot przez 18 miesięcy. W praktyce oznacza to comiesięczne udostępnianie szkolnemu koordynatorowi CASu refleksji na temat własnych aktywności w jednym z komponentów w specjalnie stworzonym portfolio. Refleksje te odpowiadają na następujące pytania: Co zostało zrobione? Jakie odczucia budzi we mnie ta aktywność? Jak mogę kontynuować tą aktywność w kontekście tej refleksji?

Łącznie uczniowie są zobligowani do ukończenia 18 refleksji, co jest warunkiem zaliczenia przedmiotu i otrzymania dyplomu IB.

CZYM JEST CAS PROJECT❓️

CAS Project to obowiązkowy element przedmiotu, w ramach którego uczniowie planują i organizują wydarzenie lub aktywność, która łączy ze sobą dwa komponenty CASu i działają na rzecz społeczności (szkolnej lub lokalnej). Przykładami wydarzeń w naszej szkole które były formami CAS Projectu są: pokaz talentów połączony ze zbiórką pieniędzy i ubrań na rzecz schronisk dla osób w kryzysie bezdomności lub sprzedaż wypieków na rzecz hospicjum. CAS Project traktować można jako zwieńczający element przedmiotu, którego wypełnienie jest warunkiem otrzymania dyplomu.

DLACZEGO CAS JEST WAŻNY❓️

CAS to przedmiot, którego celem jest rozwijanie zainteresowań i zaangażowania społecznego uczniów. W wymagającym programie IB, który mógłby prowadzić do całkowitego skupienia na nauce, CAS niejako wymusza odkrywanie nowych pasji i podtrzymywanie tych już wcześniej istniejących. Ponadto przedmiot pozwala uczniom zaangażować się w sprawy o globalnym, uniwersalnym znaczeniu i rozwinąć ich wrażliwość społeczną. Dobrze wykonany CAS nie staje tylko kolejnym przedmiotem, który trzeba zaliczyć, a jest szansą na odnalezienie przestrzeni dla siebie w programie IB.

WHAT IS CAS❓️

The abbreviation of CAS stands for Creativity, Activity and Service.

It is a required subject in the IB diploma program which aims for the students to pursue their passions and engage them socially in various activities.

Throughout the course of CAS, students fulfill each of the strands with occupations chosen by themselves respectfully. These include activities such as cooking, running or volunteering in a local animal rights organization.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSING THE CAS SUBJECT❓

IB requires, that the students engage in the subject for the course of 18 months. In practice it consists of monthly updates of the reflections a learner has gathered to the CAS coordinator about their experiences in a student-crafted portfolio. These reflections answer the following questions: what has been done? How does it make one feel? How can one continue a specific activity in the context of this reflection?

In the end, all students are obligated to finish 18 full reflection which is a necessary requirement to receive the final IB diploma.

WHAT IS CAS PROJECT❓

CAS Project is a crucial element of the course, in which students collaboratively organize and plan an event which aims to connect two components of CAS in order to benefit a community (either local or school). Examples of such events at our school are a talent show connected with a charity event which gathered money and clothes for local shelters for people experiencing homelessness or a bake sale for a hospice.

CAS Project can be treated as a concluding element of the course which is once again a requirement for the acquisition of the diploma.

WHY IS CAS IMPORTANT❓

It is a subject that is aimed at self-growth and social engagement of all students. In the demanding program of IB, CAS serves as a valuable experience between the constant learning process. Additionally, it serves as a way to sprout curiosity about new passions and developing the already existing ones. Furthermore, the subject allows learners to engage in globally and universally important actions and make their social awareness and compassion towards them. Fulfilling the course isn’t just a necessity in the program but a chance to find your own space in IB.
